Absolutely lovely people. I ordered a small cod and large chips to share with my son and the portions were huge and the prices were very reasonable! Old fashioned looking shop but good food so who cares! Haha.

Absolutely amazing fish and chips best I have had for a long time. Me and my husband had 2 large cod, med chips and a gherkin and it was very reasonably priced. Delivery time was great too I will definitely be ordering from here again.

We visited Clacton on a whim, one day last week and had a hankering for fish and chips. Google reviews sent me here and we couldn’t have been happier. It’s cash only and we didn’t have much physical money on us so we bought smaller portions than we intended but the staff were very generous and more importantly, the food was DELICIOUS. I honestly haven’t really enjoyed fish and chips in years as there are so many chippies churning out tasteless or poor quality food but this was the chip shop taste of my childhood. Absolute perfection. Thank you Golden Plaice, we love you! I wish we could take you back to Herefordshire .

This is a great fish and chips shop, the service is very friendly and the staff very helpful. The food is fresh and cooked perfectly. I've had a lot of fish and chips in my time and can day without a doubt that "Golden Plaice" is one of the best.

Tried this place for the first time tonight. Absolutely amazing piece of cod!!!! 100% my go to place from now on.. totally recommended
